Overview

We use our social media channels to engage with the small business community and share information about our work. You can follow us here:

We want our pages to be positive spaces where everyone feels welcome to share their views. When you engage with us, we ask that you follow our House Rules.

Moderation

Our channels are monitored during standard business hours, 8:30am to 5:30pm (AEST/AEDT), excluding weekends, public holidays and shutdown periods. 

We may share or refer to third-party content that is relevant to our work and the small business community, and follow organisations or individuals engaged in policy-related discussions. This does not imply endorsement.

We reserve the right to enforce our House Rules by removing content or comments that we consider breach our House Rules. We do not edit user comments, but we may report or remove any content that contain spam, profanity, or otherwise objectionable, inflammatory or prohibited material. Where there are repeated breaches of our House Rules, we reserve the right to block you from engaging with our social channels.

House Rules

Our House Rules help to foster a safe, inclusive and respectful community for everyone. We welcome questions and commentary on our pages, but expect users to be relevant, constructive and respectful. 

When engaging with our content, we expect that you:

  • protect your privacy, and that of others, by not including personal information - of either yourself or others - in your posts (for example: names, email addresses, private addresses or phone numbers)
  • represent your own views and not impersonate or falsely represent any other person
  • do not post material that infringes the intellectual property rights of others
  • do not be abusive, harass or threaten others 
  • do not make defamatory comments that are likely to damage the reputation of a person or organisation
  • do not use insulting, provocative or offensive language
  • do not incite hatred or discrimination based on personal characteristics, including race, gender, disability, age, sexuality, marital or domestic status 
  • do not promote commercial interests 
  • do not post overtly party-political comments
  • do not make unproven or unsupported accusations against individuals or organisations
  • do not post misinformation or misleading information
  • do not conduct any illegal activity or solicit the performance of any illegal activity
  • do not make comments that are irrelevant to the topic being discussed.

Please note that these rules apply in addition to the Terms of Service of each social media platform.

Privacy

We are not responsible or liable for and do not endorse the privacy practices or content of social media platforms or any linked websites. 

The use of social media and any linked websites is at the individuals own risk. When posting to a social media site, it is important to understand the platform being used. Read the Terms of Service and do not rely on a social media site’s security setting as a guarantee of privacy. Remember that content published online is, or may become, publicly available, even from personal social media accounts.

We may record information posted to social media accounts and use that information for administrative purposes. We will not try to further identify people except where requested or authorised by law. View our privacy statement for more information. 

Our use and protection of information is also governed by the provisions of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman Act 2015 (Cth).
